The Blog
So you want to create a blog.
Maybe you are feeling magnanimous and you think the knowledge you possess is too good not to be shared with others. Or maybe you just want a medium where you can pour out your anger and angst which you think is so unique no one else can top it. You might be an internet marketer looking for maximum traffic.
For all of these projects you will need to choose a ‘theme’, a framework for your blog – and a growing number of people have found the Thesis WordPress theme ideal.
After you’ve created your basic pages, it’s possible that your theme will need a little tweaking and customization so that it reflects your purpose. You might feel as though you need to share your thoughts or sales pitch … whatever. But you also need to get your site visitors moving through the different pages in your site, and you do this with links.
Site navigation is an essential element of any website that has more than one page. Using Thesis WordPress themes for your blogs makes navigating seem like child’s play. They provide you with a link in your navigation menu interface to go to the other sections. These sections may be your “about” information, archives, videos, contact or just about anything you may want to link from the home page.
So, what is the best way to add links? In the “options” page of your navigation menu interface there is a “select pages to include in the nav menu” and you simply check the box beside the page you want to appear in the menu. It really is that easy!
Most blogs use categories for their content to narrow down the reader’s choice and offer him quick access to what catches his interest. To make certain categories more visible to the reader, go to the options page and highlight these categories in the “include these category pages in the nav menu”.
For pages with long titles that you want to include in the navigation menu, there is the “add more links” option. This is a sort of cache of navigation menu links for those categories rich in content but that don’t look great on the interface.
To further customize your theme, use the “change your ‘home’ link text” option found in the navigation menu to change the title of your website to make it more personalized.
So, go ahead and start that blog. The navigation user interface is just one of the components of the Thesis WordPress themes that will pave the way for you to begin blogging and make your website user-friendly for its visitors.
