When I work with people who are interested in my Charlotte Marketing, I’m sure that good graphic design can make all the difference in how thier clients will perceive their company. When graphic desgin is done correctly it is easy to see. When not, there is something missing.
Any type of art or design is really in the eye of the beholder. No symbol or site design will appeal to all folk. But there are just a few easy things that all good design have in common.
Use a Uniform Theme
All of your pages or different sites like your webpage, your facebook, twitter and youtube page should have similar theme.
This means they should “flow” and be consistent and familiar from site to site.
Use Uniform Colours
I can not help but think of the colours of university or pro sports teams. When you think about certain colours you could think about certain teams.
As an example, if you are a college football fan, burgundy and gold are USC, Texas and Tennessee are linked with orange. Even different shades of orange.
Companies do the same thing. When you think of UPS, don’t you think of brown?
None of these groups or enterprises would ever think of changing their colors. Pick a colour or group of colours and stick with them.
Keep it Simple
How many times in your like have you heard that? That’s because its true! Far more so in graphic design. Look at your favorite symbols.
The best ones are usually the simplest.
Realize your designs also will be seen from different angles, on differing kinds of media and most likely in 3-D.
To picture this, see your emblem on T-Shirts, pens, outdoor signs, vehicles, ad speciality items, for example.
If you logo can maintain its style and shape on those things, you’re probably fine.
But if say you wish to have some very good shirts embroidered, remember that letters need to be sufficiently large to stitch.
That may change the proportions of your full design.
Just be sure you tell your designer that your artwork will be used on a selection of items and to make certain they’re going to fit.
How to choose a graphic designer
Ask to see one or two examples of their work to make sure you like their style of design.
You need to feel at ease dealing with them . This is really important. Although most graphic designers are very good at design, many lack business experience and the ability to communicate as a business person.
Ask some straightforward questions to see if they will communicate with you as a business person or to your satisfaction.
One you decide, most designers will give you one or two options of your artwork and be willing to make refinements till you are satisfied.
Completion times clearly rely on the work being done, but usually simple things like logos only take a couple of days.
Once finished, the very next step is to show off your new found creation to your friends!
See ya next time and enjoy your new artwork!
